Our coach delivers his pre-match press conference

“Tomorrow we want to get back to winning ways, but we know we’re up against a good team, and Venice is a tough place to go to. We need to approach the match in a balanced manner while showing the utmost respect for our opponent.” Massimiliano Allegri spoke on the eve of the clash at the Stadio Penzo.

“[Davide] Nicola is a coach who has always done well. He really knows his stuff. Venezia are yet to get any points, but they’ve played well in every match. They’ve got individual technical quality, and even though they’re on zero points, they have consistently created chances and shown a clear identity. What’s more, Venice is a tough place to go – their pitch is quite small and very tricky.

“We need to get into the right mindset for this type of game. We want to get all three points, but we must approach the game with caution and the utmost respect.

“I’m not worried – it’s just a case of finding solutions to our problems. We have to manage possession better and handle unexpected situations more effectively. Technical mistakes can happen, such as the one in Spain, but we still managed to create opportunities to level the score.

“Unfortunately, we didn't convert those chances. We must ensure that we never lose our composure in matches after being rocked by specific incidents. Instead, we need to get back to playing with the right determination.

“It’s still early days in the campaign, and there are areas that need improvement. Even when we beat Frosinone, we weren't always alert when defending against counter-attacks. Ultimately, in football, results are what count, but the team..."

“As for [Lorenzo] Lucca, I’ll make my final assessments after the final training session. Lucca is a player with quality who always gives his all. Sometimes in football criticism goes too far, but for us, he can be an important asset for us up front.

“At the moment, we still have some players sidelined, while others are nearing their return. There are players such as [Scott] McTominay who need game time in order to regain their fitness. Step by step we’ll find a way to get all of our available players involved.”
