Napoli came back from a goal down away to Atalanta to earn a crucial head-to-head victory and move eight points clear at the top of the table pending results elsewhere.

Ademola Lookman drew first blood for the hosts when he smashed a perfect penalty into the top corner after the ball had struck Victor Osimhen's arm in the box.

However, Victor made amends almost instantly as he climbed highest down the other end to head home Piotr Zielinksi's dinked delivery to the back post.

Soon after, the goalscorer turned provider as Osimhen muscled his way past Merih Demiral and rolled it across the box for Eljif Elmas, who bought himself a yard with a clever dummy and fired past Juan Musso.

The second half saw plenty of chances but no more goals as the Azzurri saw out the game to record a ninth consecutive win in Serie A.

Luciano Spalletti's men will be looking to make it ten on the trot when Empoli visit the Stadio Maradona on Tuesday.
