Napoli’s performance on Wednesday evening unsurprisingly put Rudi Garcia in a good mood after a difficult last few matches.
Talking about his feelings after the triumph over Udinese, the Napoli coach said, “I’m happy for [Khvicha] Kvara[tskhelia], for Victor [Osimhen], and for all of the boys. They’ve put us back on the right path.
“We played well. I’m happy for the team. They did a great job of controlling the game and creating lots of chances.
“I’m calm and not worried about any criticism because after 30 years in the game my shoulders are broad enough to carry the weight of any responsibility.
“What I care about is the team’s performance and their peace of mind. We’ve had a bit of misfortune recently and we did well to respond.”
Garcia will be over the moon with Kvaratskhelia, who finally got himself back on the scoresheet after months without finding the net.
“Kvara was brilliant in all respects. He won us that penalty, he hit the post twice, he scored, and he played a great game. When he’s clear-headed, he knows how to do amazing things.
“I’m also happy for Victor, who scored tonight. He was completely focused and even let [Piotr] Zielinski take the penalty – a sort of assist.
“What happened in Bologna was down to nerves because of a missed penalty and the fact that we couldn’t open up the game. I’ve had a good relationship with Victor from the beginning and I’m sure he’ll give everything for the club because he’s a hard-working guy.
“This evening we won the way we wanted to win. We played quality football. I’m only a bit disappointed we conceded, even if it was a fantastic goal. We shouldn’t have let that happen.”
