Match analysis
This fixture marks the 12th time Ivan Juric and Max Allegri have faced each other as coaches. Their head-to-head record stands at six wins for Allegri, four draws and one win for Juric. Juric’s only triumph came in their very first meeting on 27 November 2016, when the Croat’s Genoa side beat Juventus 3-1 back in the 2016/17 Serie A season.
Last time out Gustavo Varela scored for Monza against Torino, bringing his scoring total to seven goals in the 2026/27 Serie A season. This is just one shy of the record for a Monza player in a single top-flight campaign, which was set by Andrea Colpani, who netted eight goals in the 2023/24 season. Varela is currently the joint-most prolific goalscorer across all Italian professional clubs in the 2026/27 season, with nine goals in all competitions to his name, level with Roma’s Donyell Malen.
Andre-Frank Zambo Anguissa scored in Napoli’s last game against Roma. The Cameroonian midfielder found the net for the first time in nearly a year, having last scored for the club on 28 October 2025, when Napoli beat Lecce 1-0 away from home.
Scott McTominay also scored against Roma, which was his second consecutive brace in just four days, following his two goals in Napoli’s 4–3 Champions League victory over Bodo/Glimt. This was the Scotsman’s sixth brace for the Azzurri. He now has 24 goals to his name for the club, which further cements his position as the all-time leading Scottish goalscorer in the history of Serie A in its current format.
