Napoli’s second friendly in Dimaro
The Azzurri won their second friendly in Val di Sole on Sunday, beating Carrarese 2-0. Rasmus Hojlund scored the opener. Antonio Vergara provided the cross and the Danish forward tapped it in, giving his team the lead. Towards the end of the first half, Vergara was fouled in the box and Napoli were awarded a penalty. Giovane took it and scored, doubling the Azzurri’s lead. The game ended 2-0.
Here is what coach Massimiliano Allegri had to say at the end of the game:
“These have been ten very intense days of training. The team are gradually improving physically. Tonight’s game was an interesting test. We’ve made progress compared to our first friendly.
“Tomorrow we’ll be leaving Dimaro and will resume training in Castel di Sangro. Things are going well and I am aware that I have a great team, both on a human and a technical level.
“Of course, we need to improve the team’s physical condition because the new season is just a few weeks away. Afterwards we’ll decide whether to act in the transfer window, but we’ll take our time to think about it because we have a very competitive squad and they have to be up to the challenge of having a very good season in all competitions.
“We’re just on our tenth day of training and we must continue to work confidently at this pace to reach the best possible form for the start of the season. Now the players who were on international duty will also be coming back and we’ll have a more complete group of players as we build our fitness for the upcoming season.”
