Sport is a source of personal growth, inclusion and new prospects. These values are at the core of the new partnership between SSC Napoli and Twinning Project ETS, as part of a programme dedicated to the social rehabilitation of prison inmates.
Twinning Project is an organisation that develops projects in collaboration with football clubs and organisations belonging to the penitentiary system; it puts the experience and expertise of the football world at the service of social rehabilitation programmes for inmates. It was founded in 2018 in the United Kingdom and has since then expanded to various countries, resulting in partnerships with many professional clubs, including some in Italy as well.
The initiative will be carried out in Naples, with the support of Enel Cuore, the charitable arm of the Enel Group, at the “Pasquale Mandato” Correctional Facility in Secondigliano, which has joined the project thanks to the Regional Guarantor for Prisoners’ Rights in Campania. The programme includes football activities, as well as training sessions dedicated to personal growth and learning skills that can also be useful off the pitch.
SSC Napoli will take part in the programme by involving qualified experts from its Academy, who will be taught the specific methodology developed by Twinning Project prior to the start of the activities.
The various sessions will be both theoretical and practical and will revolve around some of the core principles of team sports, including communication, working together, leadership, individual responsibility tackling challenges and finding solutions. The programme combines football coaching with modules dedicated to the development of personal and social skills.
Through this initiative, SSC Napoli is enhancing its commitment to social responsibility activities and is offering its expertise to the local area, to support a project that attaches great importance to sport, owing to the educational and social role it plays.
