Giovanni Di Lorenzo almost secured a draw for Napoli late on San Siro in the Champions League quarter-final first leg against AC Milan at San Siro, but Mike Maignan pulled out a fine save to keep out his right-footed strike.
The defender discussed the team’s approach and the feeling in the camp looking ahead to the second leg.
“Our attitude was spot on. We’re disappointed to lose, but we’re confident heading into the return leg.
“We created so much despite not having an orthodox centre-forward in the team. We played well and Elif Elmas put in a very good display up front, so we’re pleased with the performance.
“We went toe to toe with Milan and even after the red card, we still managed to carve out openings and Maignan made some key saves.
“Now we need to get back on track in the league and we’ll then prepare for the return leg. We’re convinced we can get through. We’ll be missing a few players due to suspension, but we have a quality squad that will still give its all.”
