Francesco Calzona declared himself generally happy with Napoli's performance in the 2-2 draw against Fiorentina but ultimately disappointed they couldn't turn their dominance into three points.
“The team played well today,” he began after the spoils were shared at the Stadio Franchi.
“It's a shame we couldn't take more of our chances and it's a shame about that brief blackout.
“We were very solid and compact in the first half an hour, then we lost our shape for a bit and the end of the first half was disastrous.
“We conceded once from a free kick and once from a mistake playing out. The stats say that Fiorentina had three goalscoring chances and they scored two of them. Unfortunately we have a very high percentage of goals conceded compared to the number of chances our opponents create.
"We picked ourselves up in the second half and we had more of the ball and more territorially. The lads got the message and responded well. We bossed the second part of the game, keeping things tidy while holding a high line.
“We have our shortcomings and they've been clear in recent months but today I was pleased with our all-round performance.”
The coach also commented on © Kvaratskhelia, whose wonder free kick levelled the scores in the second half.
“I haven't just unearthed him. He's still young but he's already a big player with above-average quality. He's 22 and has huge margins for improvement. He can become world-class.”
