SSC Napoli, together with the Campania Region and the Municipality of Naples, is pleased to present Napoli 100 to the city and to supporters around the world. The centrepiece of the Club’s Centenary celebrations will take place on 1 August, a symbolic date embraced by Naples’ collective memory to celebrate a century, and beyond, of Azzurri history.
A major celebration held across several locations in the city, free of charge and open to the public, will transform the heart of Naples into an open-air stage, bringing together sport, art, music, culture, entertainment and tradition. It will be a collective narrative celebrating the unique bond between the Club, the city and its supporters, involving local residents and visitors from around the world.
The Processione Azzurra
The celebrations will begin at 19:26 in Piazza Carità, a location deeply connected to the Club’s origins and its first headquarters. The opening of the Centenary will be marked by the bells of 100 churches ringing out across the city, in a single call reaching across Naples and bringing together the entire community, alongside a spectacular Fumata Azzurra, which will officially launch the event.
This will be followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony attended by SSC Napoli President Aurelio De Laurentiis, President of the Campania Region Roberto Fico, Mayor of Naples Gaetano Manfredi, Prefect of Naples Michele di Bari and Chief of Police of Naples Maurizio Agricola.
The Processione Azzurra will then depart from Piazza Carità and make its way towards Piazza del Plebiscito, accompanying the Club and the city on a symbolic journey from the story of their origins to the celebration of the Centenary.
The concept draws inspiration from Campania’s popular and religious processions, moments in which the community comes together, recognises itself through shared symbols and publicly celebrates its history. For the Centenary, this language will be reinterpreted from a secular, artistic and contemporary perspective, with SSC Napoli becoming a meeting point for the city’s many different identities.
Brought to life by 100 actors, 100 musicians and 100 children, the narrative will begin with the myth of Parthenope and the origins of Naples, before exploring the city’s historic vocation for dialogue and coexistence between different cultures, its forms of popular devotion and some of Campania’s most important traditions. Masks, beliefs and symbolic figures from the Neapolitan and Campanian imagination will complete this major collective tableau.
Music will provide the connecting thread throughout the route, with scenes inspired by some of the songs that have carried the name of Naples around the world. Each performance will have its own distinctive visual identity, created through costumes, instruments, dance and theatrical elements inspired by the relevant periods and traditions.
The Processione Azzurra will travel through the city centre along a route of approximately one kilometre: Piazza Carità, Via Toledo, Via Santa Brigida, Via Verdi, Via San Carlo, Piazza Trieste e Trento and Piazza del Plebiscito.
The Pizza Village
Piazza Municipio will host the Centenary Pizza Village, one of the main gathering points of the celebrations, with free admission and a programme dedicated to entertainment and the finest traditions of Neapolitan cuisine.
To mark the Centenary, SSC Napoli will pay tribute to the city by celebrating one of its most authentic and internationally recognised symbols: pizza. From 20:26, the Club, together with its partners, will offer thousands of complimentary slices of Margherita pizza and drinks. Pizzas will also be donated to people in vulnerable circumstances through a partnership with Banco Alimentare Campania.
Thanks to large screens and a dedicated audio system, the public will be able to follow the Centenary Ceremony live and share every moment of the evening.
The initiative will be delivered with the organisational support of Pizza Village.
The Centenary Ceremony
The official Centenary Ceremony will begin in Piazza del Plebiscito at 20:45.
President Aurelio De Laurentiis, institutional representatives, SSC Napoli legends and special guests will take part in a narrative retracing 100 years of Azzurri history.
Through music, images, personal accounts, artistic performances and multimedia content, the audience will be taken on an emotional journey spanning a century, illustrating how Napoli has become far more than a football club: a cultural, social and collective heritage recognised around the world.
One of the highlights of the evening will bring together Napoli legends and figures from the Club’s present, creating a symbolic connection between its history and its future.
The Notte Azzurra
At 22:30, following the conclusion of the Ceremony, the Notte Azzurra, powered by Enel, will begin.
With a single gesture from the stage, the city will simultaneously light up in blue. The Royal Palace of Naples, Castel Nuovo, also known as the Maschio Angioino, Palazzo San Giacomo, Castel dell’Ovo and Castel Sant’Elmo will be illuminated in the colours of the Centenary, transforming Naples’ monumental skyline.
The illumination will mark the beginning of a major light show and a synchronised fireworks display between Piazza del Plebiscito and Castel dell’Ovo.
An original soundtrack will weave together images and the voices that have narrated some of the most iconic moments in SSC Napoli’s history, symbolically uniting the square, the city and the sea in one shared experience.
The celebrations will continue in Piazza del Plebiscito with a DJ set in collaboration with Radio Kiss Kiss, marking the Club’s first century and symbolically welcoming the next 100 years.
Information for the public
All Napoli 100 events will be free of charge.
During the Processione Azzurra, spectators will be able to watch from designated areas positioned along both sides of the entire route, following the instructions of security staff.
Access to Piazza del Plebiscito will require free registration via TicketOne, available from 15:00 on Wednesday 29 July.
To help create the Centenary’s collective visual display and play an active part in the celebrations, SSC Napoli invites all supporters to wear a shirt and bring a scarf featuring the Club’s colours and symbols, transforming the city into one striking Azzurri setting and accompanying Napoli into its next century of history.
