"We prepared for the match well, unfortunately we didn't take the scoring opportunities we created," Francesco Calzona said as he commented on Napoli's draw with Lecce in the final game of the season.
"Unfortunately, I didn't manage to convey what I wanted to the team during my time in the dugout. I came to Napoli not for money but for affection and passion, but it didn't go as I hoped," he added.
"Being out of the running for Champions League football conditioned the team's performance in the final phase of the season, because it weighed heavily on us psychologically."
"This is a good group of players – perhaps this year they didn't show their real quality. Personally I tried to adapt to the characteristics of the players I had at my disposal. I thought I could improve the situation, but it was a very unusual season, not easy for anyone."
