Glasgow – The Azzurri’s winning start to the Champions League continued on Wednesday as they travelled to Scotland to face Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s Rangers side. After an unforgettable performance against Liverpool at the Stadio Maradona, Napoli once again put in an impressive display, this time away at Ibrox Stadium. Luciano Spalletti’s men scored three goals in the last 30 minutes against the Glaswegian team, leaving the Azzurri with seven goals and six points so far in the competition.
It took a while for the deadlock to be broken, with plenty of pressure, chances and even two unconverted penalties from Napoli in the first hour. It looked like it could have been one of those nights. However, Matteo Politano ensured that wouldn’t be the case as he made sure to put away the team’s third penalty of the night. That was when the floodgates opened and Napoli stormed to victory. Giacomo Raspadori got his second goal in four days, with some beautiful link-up play before he slotted it home. It was Tanguy Ndombele who rounded the evening off nicely in added time with his first goal of the season.
Next up for Napoli in the Champions League is a trip to the Netherlands on 4 October, where they will hope to keep up their rich vein of form against Ajax.
