Antonio Conte says Tuesday's clash with PSV is an opportunity for his team to show their ambition.

The coach was speaking in Eindhoven the day before Napoli take on the Dutch side in Champions League Matchday 3.

“PSV are an excellent team who won the Dutch league last season but we're here to show our quality and see how ambitious we can be,” he told the gathered journalists.

“We got our first Champions League win against Sporting and now we want to continue in that vein. We're up against a prestigious team who play a unique, well-organised brand of football.

“Every match is important at this level and can be decisive. Unfortunately we're having to deal with lots of absences in this early stage of the season but we're confident and patient because the team is solid and we have players who are improving.

“We're here to show what we can do, not just to make up the numbers. We want to give it our best shot.

“This year we're taking a more dominant approach. We're taking a few more risks, but our aim is always to boss the game. We're perhaps conceding a few too many goals but we're trying to score more.”

“The end product was lacking against Torino but I was happy with the performance, especially in the second half. Obviously the result affects people's judgement but that's the mentality we need if we want to move up a notch on the international stage.

“We're in this competition and we're trying to gauge what level we're at. It's a new experience for us compared to last year. We want to see how far we can go without getting carried away or too dejected. We're confident we'll get on the right path to lead us to a bright future.”
