The night of triumph has remained the same: three days before Christmas. From 22 December 2014 to 22 December 2025, Napoli lifted the Italian Super Cup exactly 11 years on. From the night in Doha to the night in Riyadh, the Arabian sky has turned blue once again. It is the third Super Cup in the club’s history, with Antonio Conte restoring the Scudetto-Super Cup double, following in the footsteps of the 1990 side Napoli under Alberto Bigon featuring Diego Maradona.
This time, however, with the new expanded format, the Azzurri had to come through two matches, first beating Milan in the semi-final and then Bologna in the final. Two matches, like the four goals scored in total, evenly split between the Rossoneri and the Rossoblu, two apiece. The man to rack up no fewer than three goals was David Neres, the true blue Sheikh of the competition, who left his first mark on the tournament against Milan before registering a magnificent brace against Bologna.
Napoli managed to lift the Italian Super Cup once again. From Doha to Riyadh, 11 years to the day later on 22 December. With three days until Christmas, the blue fairy tale of the Arabian Nights has most certainly returned.
