Giovanni Di Lorenzo expressed his pride at being the captain of a high-flying Napoli side after weighing in with a goal in Saturday's 2-0 win over Salernitana at the Stadio Arechi.
The Italy full-back crashed home the opening goal on the stroke of half time to set the Azzurri on their way to victory.
“We knew it was going to be difficult. We needed to move the ball about quickly and we did that to good effect when I scored. It was important to break the deadlock in the first half. [Frank] Anguissa made a superb run into the box and then put in a great cross in the last second.
“I'm proud to be the captain of this team. We have a group of amazing players who have had a brilliant first half of the season. We need to keep going with the same mentality to achieve our goal.
“[Luciano] Spalletti has helped my development so much. He's given me the responsibility of the captain's armband and I want to show every day that I'm worthy enough to captain this club and this group of extraordinary players.”
