Club captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo oozed pride and joy after Napoli won the title with five games to spare following the 1-1 draw with Udinese.
“33 years without winning the title was too long for this city,” the skipper said.
“We're proud to have given this joy back to Naples. Our fans have shown us their love and passion for this club day after day. It felt like we were playing in Naples today. We've had a fabulous season and thoroughly deserve this success.”
When did you realise you were going to do it?
"There wasn't a particular day when the penny dropped. We built it one day at a time. We bonded together, grew as a team and acquired belief and enthusiasm. Seeing all these people so happy fills me with pride.”
