Giovanni Di Lorenzo admitted that the players are upset by their lack of form with wins proving hard to come by of late.
"We're as disappointed as anyone with the inconsistent results we're producing," the captain said in the wake of the 1-1 draw with Genoa.
"We're trying everything to turn things around. We're playing well and giving our all but unfortunately we're not scoring enough and we're a bit brittle in certain moments of the game.
“We're not able to knock out results consistently. We're alternating good things and not-so-good things.
“Today we were up against a solid side, who sat back and dug in after taking the lead. We kept believing and managed to equalise at the end but obviously we all expect to perform better.
“Clearly we've lost a bit of sparkle compared to last season and some of our moves aren't coming off as well, but every season is different. We need to focus on the present and try to get back up.
“We have the Champions League now and it's a fantastic competition to be involved in. We'll tackle it wholeheartedly and try to produce a big performance. If we perform at our best, we have every chance.”
