Napoli put up a brave performance in the EA Sports FC Supercup final but ultimately succumbed to defeat after Lautaro Martinez notched the only goal of the game in second-half stoppage time. The course of the contest changed when referee Antonio Rapuano dished out a pair of yellow cards to Giovanni Simeone in quick succession at the start of the second half. Walter Mazzarri’s side battled hard and were just a few minutes away from forcing extra time, but came unstuck in the face of relentless pressure by Simone Inzaghi’s side, who were crowned Super Cup winners.
