Eljif Elmas was keen to share the credit after he came off the bench to grab the winning goal for Napoli against Atalanta.
The 24-year-old struck 10 minutes from time after some quick thinking by fellow substitute Victor Osimhen played him in.
Speaking after the 2-1 triumph in Bergamo, the North Macedonia praised the Nigerian and the impact of new boss Walter Mazzarri.
"I have Victor to thank for my goal and I immediately went over to hug him after scoring,” Elmas began.
“It was crucial for us to win today. We wanted to get ourselves back on track and make a fresh start.
“Mazzarri has been a great help. We're all united and the gaffer's come in and done an amazing job.
“We're the champions and we want to show that and climb back up the table. This was a big step forward for us today. We must build on it now and keep winning.”
