Rudi Garcia says Napoli must learn from their mistakes after what should have been three points against Union Berlin ended up being one.
“We needed to score another goal to wrap up the game,” the coach admitted following the 1-1 draw at the Maradona. “We ruined a very good performance through one defensive mistake.
“It's a shame because the team deserved a different result given the way they played. We dominated the match but weren't able to finish the many chances we carved out.
“In games like this you have to take your chances because if the result is still in doubt you can end up the way we did today.
“We showed naivety on a corner of ours. We usually keep four back when we're in the lead and we didn't do that this time.
“The lads probably didn't have time to get into position as it was a quickly taken corner. It's a mistake we'll learn from.
“Now need to recover our strength in time for Empoli. The Champions League takes a lot out of you mentally and physically. Tomorrow we'll get back to work and prepare as best we can for our next game. We must get back to winning home games and we want to start on Sunday.”
