With eight goals in two games, Napoli have sent out a clear message to the rest of Serie A – one Rudi Garcia underlined after his team's win over Lecce.
"We're getting back to the level these players should be at,” he purred following the 4-0 victory at the Stadio Via del Mare.
“We're on the right track. We'll see how the league table looks at the end of the weekend but the main thing is we're improving
“We did well in our first two games then things took a turn for the worse and we didn't get much luck either. We've got going again now and some of our top players like [Khvicha] Kvara[tskhelia] and [Frank] Anguissa have improved their fitness.
“I was fairly calm. I knew we needed consistency and that's what we're going to need from here on in.
“Today we won an important game at a difficult ground where Lecce always make it hard.”
Garcia then expressed his satisfaction with the goalscorers and stressed the need for rotation.
“I'm happy for [Leo] Ostigard and I'm happy it came from a cross because my staff have been doing a lot of work on set-pieces on the training ground.
“[Giovanni] Simeone played really well in the first half and deserved a goal. Then [Victor] Osimhen came on with fresh legs and he proved decisive, as he often is.
“Victor also let [Matteo] Politano take the penalty and showed once again how much he cares about his team-mates.
“I'm pleased for [Gianluca] Gaetano too as he scored on his return. It's a tremendous joy for a Neapolitan youngster like him.
“We have to use our squad because we have lots of games and we're capable of excelling in every competition.
“We'll think about Real Madrid tomorrow. We'll enjoy this win tonight then we'll try to get into top shape for Tuesday.”
