Rudi Garcia was satisfied with a job well done after Napoli defeated Sassuolo in their opening home game of the season but insisted his side must take their chances better.
“Our sole objective was to win and get the three points – we did that and deservedly so,” the coach began following the 2-0 triumph. “I can't be happy with the all the chances we wasted, though. Our finishing must be better.
“We were imprecise in and around the box. I'm not talking about [Giacomo] Raspa[dori]'s penalty because those things can happen. He hit the woodwork too and had a really good game. I'm talking about the opportunities we had to make it 2-0 in the first half. You have to score those chances when you get them. We'll need to be more clinical going forward.”
The boss then commented on the contribution of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who set up Giovanni Di Lorenzo for Napoli's second just minutes after coming off the bench.
“Kvara is getting back to his best form. He did really well when he came on today. He and Raspa can play in different positions and I'm sure they'll both provide plenty of assists and goals.”
Garcia was also asked whether being the Scudetto holders places more pressure on the team.
“I told the lads that whenever they have any doubts or find themselves in difficulty to look at the Scudetto shield on their shirt and remember what they're capable of. Being the champions is an incentive and an honour and we want to defend the title as best we possibly can, as we have done in our first two games.”
