Rudi Garcia declared himself happy with the pre-season groundwork laid by his Azzurri squad as they prepare to kick off their Scudetto defence against Frosinone next Saturday.
The boss was speaking after his side defeated Apollon Limassol 2-0 in the final friendly of their Castel di Sangro training camp.
“We've had a good pre-season and worked hard on our intensity,” Garcia explained.
“We played at a low tempo and our movement was a bit off in the first half today but after the break we upped the pace and our quality.
“I'm pleased with the new arrivals and with those who played tonight. It's a solid group of players who help each other on the pitch even when fatigue starts to set in.
"We'll be ready for the start of the season. All that matters is we're in top shape for the game against Frosinone. We'll need to produce a good performance because our opponents will be really up for it.”
The Azzurri boss also commented on the impact of new signing Jens Cajuste.
"You saw some of what he can do today. He can play anywhere in midfield and is skilful and strong. I'm pleased he's joined us because I'm sure he'll improve our squad a lot.”
