Pierluigi Gollini has shared his first impressions of Napoli after joining from Fiorentina, hailing the positive atmosphere at the club and in the city.
"I'm really happy to have come here – it feels like a family,” the goalkeeper told Radio Kiss Kiss on Thursday, following his first week in the Naples.
"I've only just arrived but it feels like I've been here for ages. I've slotted in really well, thanks to my team-mates too as they've been so friendly and welcoming. It's a strong, close-knit group that can achieve big things.
"I might have joined Napoli last summer but I was already in talks with Fiorentina. When the opportunity arose again in January I jumped at the chance.
"I'm glad because I knew I was coming to a city where the love and passion for the team is special, unique. I've always admired the atmosphere in Naples: it's an environment that breeds strong emotions for football.
Victor Osimhen helped Gollini feel part of the gang by running over to hug him after scoring the opener against Roma on Sunday.
"I really appreciated that,” the keeper revealed. “Before the match, I told him to show me what a lion he was on the pitch. It was a very tight match and he scored a superb goal.
“I instantly hit it off with Victor and all the lads. Now I'm here and I want to do everything I can to help on and off the pitch.
“This could be a huge season for Napoli. We can make the dream come true but we must take things one step at a time. I've been around long enough to know that football is fraught with danger. I was at Man United when I was 16 and you acquire a winning mentality there.
"Now we have this match against Spezia then we'll deal with the rest. We're really keen to do well in the Champions League too but we're focusing on one game at a time. In football you have to build success day by day.”
