There have been 44 competitive meetings between the two sides in Sardinia. The head-to-head record stands at nine Cagliari wins, the last of which came in the 2008/09 season, 22 draws, the last of which came in the 2023/24 season, and 13 Napoli wins, the last of which came in the 2024/25 season.

Cagliari are on a six-game winless run. Their last victory was on 31 January, when they beat Verona 4-0 at home. Since then they have drawn twice and lost four times.
