Head-to-head record
Milan and Napoli meet on Sunday evening at 20:45 CET at San Siro. The two sides have faced each other 87 times in official matches in Milan, with the Rossoneri winning 38, 29 draws and 20 victories for Napoli.
The last Serie A draw between the sides at San Siro was on 23 November 2019 (1-1, with goals from Hirving Lozano for Napoli and Giacomo Bonaventura for Milan). In the six meetings since then, Milan have won twice while Napoli have come away with four victories.
Over the last decade, the fixture has only been played in September once, in 2022/23, when Napoli won 2-1 away. Matteo Politano’s penalty put Napoli ahead, Olivier Giroud equalised for Milan and Giovanni Simeone scored the winning goal.
This will be the tenth official meeting between Massimiliano Allegri and Antonio Conte. Conte leads the head-to-head with five wins, two draws and two victories for Allegri.
On the sidelines are the two most decorated coaches in Serie A in 2025/26: Allegri with six Scudetti and Conte with five (the only coach in history since 1929/30 to win the title with three different clubs).

Match analysis
Milan have taken nine points from their first four games – the last time they managed that was in 2023/24. Back then they sat third, behind Inter (12 points) and Juventus (ten). Milan went on to finish second on 75 points, 19 behind runaway champions Inter.
Napoli have 12 points from four games, matching their start to the 2021/22 campaign, when they also led the table outright with Inter and Milan two points behind.
Counting the end of last season, Napoli have conceded only one goal (Luca Ranieri for Fiorentina) in their last five Serie A away matches.
Over their last 14 away games in the league, Conte’s side have lost just once, a 2-1 reversal away to Como on 23 February 2025 – with the other 13 fixtures yielding eight wins and five draws.
Napoli also boast the highest number of different scorers in Serie A so far: eight (Billy Gilmour, Leonardo Spinazzola, Lorenzo Lucca, Rasmus Hojlund, Sam Beukema, Kevin De Bruyne, Frank Anguissa and Scott McTominay).
For Milan, Christian Pulisic struck his third Serie A brace against Udinese. The American has scored five goals in Milan’s first six matches of 2025/26, and overall has 37 goals in 7,544 minutes for the Rossoneri, which equates to one every 203.9 minutes. Since his arrival in Italy in 2023/24, he has been directly involved in 44 goals, the same tally as Lautaro Martínez.
Meanwhile, Politano has scored more goals (six) against Milan than against any other opponent, including four at San Siro.
TACTICAL ANALYSIS: MILAN'S DEFENSIVE PHASE
Milan have built a run of defensive solidity over their last four matches, keeping clean sheets in both Serie A and the Coppa Italia. Their consistency is reflected in the numbers from each game, which show constant focus in duels and ball recoveries. These figures highlight a defensive strength that goes beyond simply protecting the penalty area, also relying on their ability to intervene regularly in the middle of the pitch. The four-game streak without conceding is therefore the product of collective work, while also seeing them face the fewest shots of any team in the league.
- Udinese 0-3 Milan – Milan won 17 duels, made 15 tackles (nine successful) and recovered 65 balls in total, with the figures portraying the team’s defensive strength.
- Milan 3-0 Lecce (Coppa Italia) – Similar numbers: 16 duels won, 16 tackles (eight successful) and 57 ball recoveries.
PLAYER FOCUS
Fikayo Tomori has featured in each of Milan’s last four matches, making a consistent contribution to their impressive run of clean sheets. Against Udinese, he stood out for his aggressive reading of the game, pushing the press high into the opposition half. His advanced positioning allowed him to close down space for opposing moves and win back possession.
He showed a similar approach against Lecce in the Coppa Italia, moving regularly beyond the defensive line to break up build-up play and recover the ball in advanced areas. The game will be refereed by Daniele Chiffi from Padua.
