Match Preview | Napoli v Lazio

Previous encounters

Napoli and Lazio have met 82 times in competitive fixtures in Naples, with the hosts recording 39 wins (most recently 4-0 in Serie A in 2021/22), 23 draws (most recently 1-1 in Serie A in 2016/17) and Lazio claiming 20 victories (most recently 2-0 in Serie A last season).

One particularly memorable encounter took place on 29 April 1990, when Napoli clinched their second Serie A title with a 1-0 victory over Lazio in Fuorigrotta, courtesy of a goal from Marco Baroni.

Lazio have won on each of their last four visits to Napoli, with the hosts scoring just once across those encounters, through Piotr Zielinski on 2 September 2023 in a 2-1 defeat. Napoli have now gone 238 minutes without scoring at home against the Biancocelesti.

Match analysis

Lazio have scored in each of their last ten competitive matches in all competitions. The last time they failed to find the net was on 16 August, when they lost 2-0 at home to Mantova in the Coppa Italia.

The Biancocelesti have scored more goals between the 46th and 60th minutes than any other team in the league (six).

Lazio also boast the joint-highest number of different goalscorers in Serie A (12, level with Roma) and have been awarded the joint-most penalties (three, alongside Monza).

Max Allegri and Gennaro Gattuso are set to meet for the sixth time as coaches in competitive football. The current Napoli boss has won all five previous encounters. Gattuso also played under Allegri at AC Milan for two seasons (2010/11 and 2011/12), winning a Serie A title and an Italian Super Cup.

Gattuso will be facing one of his former clubs, having managed Napoli from December 2019 to June 2021. During his tenure, he recorded 45 wins, 13 draws and 22 defeats in 80 competitive matches, also lifting the Coppa Italia in 2019/20.

Gustav Isaksen was on target against Cagliari, taking his tally to four goals in Serie A in 2026/27, just one shy of his best league return for Lazio (five in 2025/26). The Dane has already netted twice against Napoli, making them his joint-favourite opponents in Italy alongside Bologna, Cagliari and Juventus.

Andrea Pinamonti also got on the scoresheet against Cagliari, registering his second goal of the campaign for Lazio.
