Napoli were beaten 2-0 by Benfica at the Estadio da Luz in Matchday 6 of the Champions League, with a goal in each half for the hosts by Richard Rios and Leandro Barreiro.
Antonio Conte offered the following assessment after the game:
“This defeat certainly complicates things for us. Last Sunday took a lot out of us mentally and physically. We knew that we'd feel the effects of that in the long run.
“Benfica were more aggressive and we didn't press properly from the start. We knew it was going to be a tough match at a difficult ground and when you're playing back-to-back games you inevitably suffer at some point. I have no complaints with my players because they gave their all.
"Now we have to rest then on Friday we'll start preparing for Udinese."
