Another goal by Antonio Vergara and Miguel Gutierrez's first for the club helped Napoli see off Fiorentina at the Stadio Maradona on Saturday evening.

The Napoli academy product opened the scoring with a fine run and finish ten minutes into the game – his second goal in less than a week, having broken his duck against Chelsea on Wednesday.

After the restart, the Spanish full-back opened his own Azzurri account with a fine curling finish inside the far post to put us 2-0 up.

The visitors pulled one back through Manor Solomon shortly before the hour mark but Antonio Conte's men saw out the game to claim the points.

Antonio Conte felt Napoli were good value for the points:

"It was a deserved win. We're pleased with the performance but we need to be more clinical. Sometimes it's not enough to control the game if you don't take your chances.

“Today the result was in the balance till the end even though we were always in control. That's something we need to work on because at times we've dropped points in matches we should have won.

“The lads are doing an amazing job in the circumstances we're in. We must push on and get back up there because there's still half a season to play and we have objectives to reach.”

Antonio Vergara starred once again with another goal after his midweek strike against Chelsea:

"To score two goals at the Maradona in just a matter of days is a feeling I can't put into words. I'm happy we were able to get the three points today. We want to keep moving up the table.

"Conte helps me every day and he asks me to help out defensively. I did that with intensity tonight and I'm glad I was able to help the team achieve what is a very important win.”

Miguel Gutierrez had the following to say after opening his Napoli account:

“I'm absolutely delighted with my goal, especially as it helped us to win the game. It gives me the confidence to keep working as I have been since day one. It means a lot to me to do well for this club because there's so much passion for the game in Naples.

“We're sad to lose our captain to injury but we'll give everything we've got to try and achieve our goals this season for Giovanni too.”
