Napoli slipped to a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Lazio on Saturday evening. Matteo Cancellieri gave the visitors an early lead and the Azzurri weren't able to find a way back in. Vanja Milinkovic Savic saved a Mattia Zaccagni penalty but Toma Basic added a second for Lazio shortly before the hour mark.

Antonio Conte admitted his side weren't at the races.

"It was a below-par performance today. I think the disappointment of Parma was still weighing on our minds. I wasn't able to instil the right energy in the team and unfortunately the lads didn't perform at their usual level.

“Lazio played a really good match but we were lacking in energy and when the intensity drops off it's hard to control the game.

“We wanted to pick up as many points as possible in this season finale and that remains our goal. We'll look forward now and try to end the season well so that we can finish the job and secure Champions League football.”

Leonardo Spinazzola also commented on the performance.

“We're disappointed. We were sluggish today and that shouldn't happen. I'm sure the psychological blow of drawing with Parma had an impact.

“We still had a flicker of hope that we could get back to the top of the table. Sadly, once that dream ended our motivation dropped.

“That said, we'll be fully committed when we get back to work on Monday because we want to end the season on a high.”
