Napoli claim win in friendly at Castel di Sangro.
Napoli overcame Osasuna in their first friendly at the Stadio Patini in Castel di Sangro. The Azzurri took the lead just before the half-hour mark thanks to a superb volley from Matteo Politano, who finished off a cross from Leonardo Spinazzola.
Early in the second half, Max Allegri’s men added a second goal through Lorenzo Lucca, who held off his marker before firing home a powerful right-footed shot. The Spanish side pulled one back via a Ante Budimir penalty, but the match ended 2–1 to Napoli.
Next up for our lads is another Spanish side – Celta Vigo. We’ll be facing them on Saturday at 21:00 at the Stadio Patini once more.
Matteo Politano gave his thoughts on his side's victory:
"It was a good match. It was important to get some minutes under my belt and follow the coach's instructions.
"I’m happy about getting on the scoresheet but also about the team's performance. Our overall fitness is improving.
"We’re working really hard to be in peak condition for when the season starts. Personally, I’d like to improve on last year's goal tally, although my main job is to help the team in general. We have great belief in what we’re capable of and are keen to have a successful season."
