Napoli came from two goals down to draw with Verona at the Stadio Maradona on Wednesday evening.

The visitors took the lead after a quarter of an hour through Martin Frese's backheel, then Gift Orban added a second from the penalty spot before the half-hour mark.

The Azzurri fought back after the break, with Scott McTominay's header to reduce the deficit rallying the crowd.

Rasmus Hojlund and Amir Rrahmani both had possible equalisers disallowed before Giovanni Di Lorenzo finally levelled the scores with less than ten minutes left to play.

Antonio Conte offered the following assessment after the final whistle:

"Given the way the game went, we responded really well. We managed to level the scores and nearly got a third. We have to keep doing what we're doing because we know there's a long way to go.

“We have to play Inter next and they're a great team but we'll go there determined to show what we can do.

“I'm not interested in who is or isn't favourites. All I'll say is this evening there were certain things that went against us which could have knocked anyone for six. I'm pleased with the team's reaction – that's what we need to build on.”

Scott McTominay also shared his thoughts:

"Conte got us really fired up at half time and we managed to get a draw but we're disappointed not to have won the game.

“It's a shame because we deserved to turn it around. Anyway, we must move on and focus on the next one now.”

Giovanni Di Lorenzo saw the glass as half full:

“I'm happy to have scored but we're not happy with the result. Unfortunately we weren't able to win in front of our fans, despite spending the whole of the second half on the attack.

“In any case, given the position we were in, a point is useful. We have to keep going because we need points to stay close to the top spots.”
