Napoli emerged victorious from a pulsating encounter with Como to head into the international break top of the Serie A pile.
The Azzurri made a lightning start, with Scott McTominay grabbing the opener inside the first minute, only for Gabriel Strefezza to level the scores shortly before the break.
Romelu Lukaku restored the advantage from the penalty spot soon after the restart, then David Neres wrapped up the win with a cool finish a few minutes from time.
This is Antonio Conte's post-match analysis:
“I'd never have thought we'd be top of the league at this point before the season started because we've only been working together for a few months. We did well to win the game tonight. We played with the right spirit and character. I want to praise the players and my staff too – we work so many hours every day. We know that Naples is a passionate, demanding city and we're trying to live up to expectations and our fans' passion. The players know the level of focus that's needed here and there's a healthy competition for places, with everyone giving their all. I'm happy with the way the team is responding.”
Elia Caprile spoke at the post-match press conference.
“We got off to a great start then Como caused some problems for us. In the dressing room at half time we said that with a bit more focus we could win this game and that's what we did. We have a fantastic squad and we've shown it. With every match we realise we need to improve but we're getting stronger all the time. We need to keep working with the same intensity.”
Two of the goalscorers also had their say.
Romelu Lukaku: “It's a gradual process because I joined at the end of the transfer window but as the weeks pass I'm finding my best form. I have my team-mates to thank for my performances because they're helping me loads. We have to carry on like this, working really hard. We must keep on track and show we're a compact, solid side.”
Scott McTominay: “Scoring that goal was an amazing feeling and I have to thank Romelu for setting me up. We took the lead instantly but we weren't fully in control in the first half. In the second half we bossed proceedings and deserved to win. We need to keep focusing on one match at a time without looking at the table.”
