Conte's side claim win in Turin

Napoli overcame Torino 1-0 for their second win in a row following the November international break. Scott McTominay was the match winner with a left-footed finish after half an hour of play.

This is what coach Antonio Conte had to say after the game:

“I’m happy with our performance. Torino are a top team and winning here isn’t easy. We played well, attacking really well while showing lots of determination, in both halves of the match. I’d asked my players to show more guile and determination in attack and I liked how the team responded. Their goalkeeper was one of the best players on the pitch and kept the scoreline down.

“I’m especially happy with how solid we were. We gave them few chances and always played with balance. Teams wanting to win things need to be solid and know how to manage games. We interpreted the unfolding of the game really well.

“As for Scott McTominay, I know him really well. We quietly signed him and the club and sporting director Giovanni Manna did a great job at understand what he could bring to Napoli. But the same goes for every new recruit. We’re a team that’s on the up and, as I said before, the growth of a team happens through the steps each individual player must take every week. We play in a passionate atmosphere where people drive us on to always give our all to keep on growing.”

Scott McTominay expressed his happiness at getting on the scoresheet:

“I’m delighted for the goal but especially because it led to us getting three points. I’ve scored two important goals in the last three games, but the whole team deserve credit.

“We’re improving and we’ve got to keep this up. [Antonio] Conte is guiding us well, he shows us videos to explain where we need to improve and always wants the best from us. The great results we’re getting is proof that we’re working well.”

Matteo Politano also shared his thoughts:

“It’s a huge win achieved through great character. We showed our true colours against a tough opponent who gave their all until the end.

“We’ve got a different approach compared to last season – everyone is sacrificing themselves and we’re getting results. We’ve got quality and when you play with focus and determination players’ technical skills always can shine.”
