Speaking on the eve of the EA SPORTS FC Italian Super Cup final, Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri said: "Tomorrow we'll play on an equal footing. Inter are a great team but Napoli have the Scudetto on their chest until someone else wins it."
Could this Supercoppa give the club worldwide prestige?
"Napoli already have international prestige. Under the leadership of president [Aurelio] De Laurentiis, the club has had a global standing for several years. This trophy would be important for this group. The club has already earned significant global recognition after the Scudetto win."
How important would this trophy be for your career?
"In my 23-year career, this is the second time I have played a Super Cup final and I hope to win it this time. But what is important is that these guys can lift a trophy of great significance for their season.
"As far as I am concerned, I am already fully satisfied with my coaching career and, coming from nowhere, to have managed to play two Super Cup finals is already a source of personal pride."
Would you take a draw tomorrow and then potentially settle it on penalties?
"I would never sign for a draw. Above all, the mentality that my boys must have is always to aim for the absolute maximum. We are fully motivated and want to show the best of our ability.
"In the semi-final we saw a rampant Inter side. We face an opponent in their best form of this season and if we were to get a positive result it would also be an important achievement in terms of morale for us.
"In the league we lost 3-0, but in reality we had more ball possession and several scoring chances. They had some counters and scored. Matches must be looked at in terms of the episodes.
"We'll play on equal terms with Inter, for sure, and then we'll see what happens. Napoli are champions of Italy and this means something. The Scudetto is on their chest until somebody else wins it. Inter are a great team, but we want to have our say and play a leading role in this final."
