“It’s impossible to explain how this game turned out tactically and the fact that we lost based on how my players performed.” Walter Mazzarri shared his thoughts after his Napoli side fell to a narrow defeat against Juventus.
“We played really well. The lads kept Juventus in their own half for a lot of the match, especially after the break. Our mistake was leaving a man free in the box for their goal. We were perhaps lacking a bit of decisiveness and luck, despite performing well.
“I’m convinced that if we keep playing like this we can string a good run of results together which we’d deserve. We gave our all today. Ever since I took this job we’ve always played better than our opponents.
“Kvara had a gilt-edged chance. The fact that the ball didn’t go in is an indication that things aren’t going in our favour right now. Like I said before, if we keep playing like this then positive results will come.
“We’ve now got to give our all in order to overcome Braga and get out of our Champions League group. With the return of some great players to our squad we’re capable of having a really good rest of the season.
“I’m full of belief. Our league position doesn’t concern me right now. I’ll say it again – I’m convinced that with such performances and by having such an attitude we’re capable of going on a good run and climbing the league to where we deserve to be.”
