"Our supporters travel miles to support us, and they deserve much more than what we are showing on the pitch. They should get a lot back for the sacrifices they make," Pasquale Mazzocchi said after Napoli's defeat at Empoli on Saturday.
"Today it was a game that started badly and we were unable to recover. I really wanted to play but I wasn't very well yesterday and the coach and I agreed that I'd start on the bench."
He added: "Personally, I'm suffering a lot because of this situation we're going through. I'm also trying to do my best in training so that I can make my contribution when I go out there.
"Tonight when [Francesco] Calzona asked me if I felt better I said yes and went on. Unfortunately we weren't able to express ourselves as we would have liked."
