Alex Meret has offered a simple explanation for his impressive early-season form.
“I'm playing more regularly this year and my form is a result of the work I'm putting in and the fact that I'm able to play more often than before,” the goalkeeper offered ahead of Napoli's Champions League clash with Ajax.
“It's easier to show what you can do when you're playing regularly. I'm happy with the start I've made to the season and I hope to continue like this.
What do you need to be wary of against Ajax?
"They have different attacking options. We've prepared for everything they might throw at us because they're dangerous from both dead-ball situations and open play. We must keep playing the same way we have been in these first few months without letting up at all.
"We know it's going to be difficult and we must go out there with the right mindset if we want to keep going in Europe."
As a goalkeeper, what's your view of Kim's impressive start to life at Napoli in the heart of defence?
“I get on very well with Kim. He's a top-quality footballer but I think the whole of our backline is doing really well. Defence is an area of the team where movement needs to be automatic. Napoli have players who help each other and that's what's making the difference.”
