Alex Meret, who made a sumptuous save towards the end of Napoli’s 2-0 win away to Salernitana to preserve his clean sheet, reacted to the impressive milestone of reaching 50 points in the league at the halfway stage after the game.
“We mustn’t look at the fact that we have 50 points, the league table or the gap between us and the teams behind. We know we need to play with intensity and determination if we want to keep this up.
“It was a great save, but above all, it was important because they could’ve got back into the game and it would’ve given Salernitana a real boost.
“I always try to be ready and alert even to the smallest of details and the confidence that the coach and team have in me really helps me out.
“We did well to take our chances today. It wasn’t easy to break down a team that kept it so tight and I feel this victory shows the level of maturity that we’ve reached as a squad.”
