“We did well to steer the game in our favour. Qualifying was paramount and we’ve done so, showing balance and solidity.” Alex Meret gave his thoughts after Napoli’s 2-0 win over Braga, in which he made a super save in the first half.
“Yes, it was a big save, not just because it looked good but also because of when it happened. It could’ve been tricky had we conceded to Braga at that point in the game.
“The team played with poise and solidity. We showed that by playing with great focus and confidence we can get the best out of ourselves.
“We worked a lot on our defending in the lead-ups to games, both in open play and dead balls. This is starting to bear fruit. We need to keep this up with the same level of application and enthusiasm.
“There are many big matches to come this season and we want to be one of the leading lights. We’ll try to climb the league table and go as far as we can in the Champions League. We’re a tight-knit team who are keen to show what we’re made of.”
