Matteo Politano and Victor Osimhen’s goals were not enough to secure Napoli a win on Sunday afternoon. Frosinone held the hosts to a draw at the Maradona, with Walid Cheddira scoring a brace against his parent club.
Politano opened the scoring in the 16th minute by firing an excellent shot past the Frosinone keeper from the edge of the box. Just moments later, Osimhen could have doubled the Azzurri’s lead when he found himself one-on-one with Stefano Turati but sent the ball just wide of the net.
Following Amir Rrahmani’s collision with Cheddira inside the area, Matias Soule stepped up to the spot to take a penalty but was denied by Alex Meret.
Frosinone responded in the second half when a defensive mistake allowed Cheddira to slide the ball into an empty net.
A deflection from a Khvicha Kvaratskhelia corner gave Osimhen the chance to put the Azzurri back in the lead in the 63rd minute. However, just ten minutes later, it was Cheddira to head the ball into the net and equalise.
