Eleven wins in eleven for Luciano Spalletti’s team of eleven! The Azzurri extended their tremendous run in the league, which started way back on 3 September, by securing victory against a strong Udinese side on Saturday. The win sees them close out their 2022 campaign in style in what was the last fixture before the international break for the World Cup.
It was Victor Osimhen who found the back of the net first with a towering header before Piotr Zielinski doubled the lead with a looping effort. Napoli went in at half-time two goals to the good and it wasn’t long into the second half that they extended it further. With a lightning speed counter-attack, Elif Elmas drove into the box, beat the defender and fired home. It looked like the game was done and dusted, but Udinese rallied and fought hard to get back into it. They scored two goals in three minutes to set up a final nervy 10 minutes, but Napoli withstood the challenge and secured all three points.
The Azzurri go into this extended international break with an outstanding record and sitting firmly atop the league.
