Napoli’s forward spoke at his first press conference in Dimaro

“I am here to win.” Noa Lang’s introduced himself with an assertive claim at his first press conference as a Napoli player in Trentino.

“Napoli is an important step in my career. I had already had the opportunity to come here last winter. I had decided to join Napoli, but my club did not let me. After Napoli made another offer this summer I just could not wait to sign and finally become a part of this team.”

“I am a player who loves to entertain others and to have fun. I love carrying the ball, but I also know that I have to improve from a tactical point of view. I am here to win. It would be great to win the league title with Napoli because I’ve won titles in the Netherlands, but here it would be special.”

What have Antonio Conte’s training sessions been like for you?

“The sessions are very intense; in fact the first phrase I have learned in Italian was “sono stanco” (I’m tired). But this is a good thing for me because I can improve and grow by getting out of the comfort zone I was in at Ajax.”

“I am aware that a lot of work has to go into defence in Italian football compared to the Dutch way of playing. To me this is an opportunity to become a more mature player tactically and to hone my skills both during the offensive and the defensive phases. From this point of view, Conte is the perfect coach for me to grow; I hadn’t even joined Napoli yet, but we spoke on the phone and he immediately explained everything to me very clearly. I am ready to do what he needs me to do.”

Here’s what he said about his passion for music:

“Music makes me feel well. It also helps me relax. Of course I will ask the club if I can devote time to this passion. Otherwise I will listen to Neapolitan music, which is wonderful.”

Could having to replace Kvara be a burden?

“I believe the club has shown great trust towards me. I realise that [Khvicha] Kvaratskhelia is a great player, but I am a different player and I want to leave a mark on Napoli’s history.”

“I realise that Serie A is a very competitive league. Ever since I was a child, I have always been fascinated by Italy and how passionate about football people here are. I look forward to playing in Serie A.”

“It is an honour and an incentive to play with great players such as [Kevin] De Bruyne and [Romelu] Lukaku. I have always admired them from afar and now that I have the chance to play with them, I am very happy to take part in this adventure.”

“I want to stress once again that I am here to win. At Napoli I can prove myself as a player, but I know that there are 19 other teams that we must outperform, and we will give it everything we’ve got to succeed. Personally I am very confident about our chances, and I will repay the club for believing in me.”
