SSC Napoli would like to clarify the reasons behind Jesper Lindstrom’s failed transfer to Schalke 04, following the inaccurate reports published by the media.
On Sunday, there was an exchange of communications regarding the general terms of the contract, during which no objections were raised regarding the financial and payment terms of the proposed contract. Subsequently, today at 13:00 CEST, SSC Napoli was informed by the German club that some of the terms put forward were unacceptable, also in light of their new technical and sporting requirements following the injuries suffered by two players over the weekend, which meant that the club needed to make some changes to its transfer window strategy.
At 13:22 CEST, a reply was sent to the German club, stating that although the changes to the overall deal were minor in nature, and understanding the German club’s new technical needs, SSC Napoli was ready to accept the version of the contract submitted by Schalke 04.
Despite that, at 17:32 CEST the German club confirmed that they were no longer interested owing to their new squad building priorities, clearly showing the actual reasons why the deal was not finalised.
Hoping that this statement has clarified where the true responsibility for the failed transfer of the player lies, SSC Napoli reserves all legal rights and options before the competent authorities to safeguard its interests.
