Alessandro Buongiorno, Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Matteo Politano and Giacomo Raspadori all played for Italy on Sunday evening but were unable to help the Azzurri overcome Germany and progress to the Nations League Final Four for a third consecutive tournament.

Luciano Spalletti's men went into the second leg trailing 2-1 following their defeat in Milan and fell further behind after conceding three first-half goals.

However, they rallied after the break with Moise Kean netting twice. Raspadori, who came off the bench midway through the second half, was involved in the build-up to Kean's second and then converted an stoppage-time spot-kick to make it 3-3 on the night.

The result sees the Germans progress to the semis 5-4 on aggregate.

Di Lorenzo and Buongiorno played the full match while Politano came on at half time.

Alex Meret was an unused sub.
