Giacomo Raspadori was officially unveiled as a Napoli player this Thursday. Below is some of what he had to say in his first press conference at the club:
What's your preferred position?
"I definitely feel more comfortable playing in the hole behind the forwards, but the tactics are up to the coach. I'll be ready to fill in wherever.
"I'm young and I've got a long career ahead of me. I'm a versatile player who's capable of adapting to different roles across the front line. What's for certain is that I prefer to find space in between the lines but as I said I'm just delighted to be here and happy to do what Luciano Spalletti asks of me. I can't wait to get stuck in."
Could Napoli help you nail down a place in the Italy team?
"Obviously playing for a top-class club which also competes in Europe is really important for a young player. I was keen to put myself out there and try to improve myself as a player and as a person.
"The prospect of playing in the Champions League is spine-tingling. As a child I dreamed of playing in the competition and now at Napoli I've got the chance to make this come true."
What have your impressions of the Napoli players and coaching staff been like so far?
"They've been great. Everyone has been nice to me and delighted that I'm here. This is a good sign for me and it's given me further belief that I've made the right choice.
"Playing for Napoli is a thrilling prospect but it's not to be taken lightly. It'll make me mature and become a better footballer. The standards are so high here and that drives me on.
"I'm really grateful to Sassuolo for my time at the club. They gave me my chance in football as a child. They've now given me the chance to make it at a really ambitious club. I think this outcome suits all parties."
You could prove to be ideal foil for Victor Osimhen...
"I'd just like to contribute in any way that I can to win games, be it an assist, a clever movement or a goal. Osimhen is a great forward and I hope that I can compliment him well."
What do you make of the city of Naples?
"I'm getting to know Naples and I can safely say it's a crazy place. I'm delighted to be here and to be also playing in front of such a passionate crowd."
