“It’s always disappointing to lose even if it’s a friendly,” admitted Giacomo Raspadori after the 4-1 defeat at home to Lille on Wednesday. “There were so many fans at the stadium this evening and we wanted to give them something to shout about. We’re working hard to be at our best for the return to action and to make our fans happy.”
The forward has been in red-hot form of late, racking up five goals in the December friendlies against Antalyaspor, Crystal Palace and Lille on Wednesday evening.
“Maybe our physical condition was a bit behind Lille’s this evening, but we’re still going down our path while keeping up the same level of intensity in training and showing our desire to resume the season with the same strength.”
You’ve now scored five goals in the break. Do you feel you’re an important component of the team’s attack?
“I’m personally giving my all and I’m working hard on every aspect of my game to improve, develop and help the team. I’m capable of playing in more positions, whether it means scoring myself or putting my team-mates in goalscoring situations. What matters is the team. We have so many quality players in the squad and we’re all aware of our potential.”
