The champions had to dig deep to avoid a second straight defeat as a spirited late comeback earned them a share of the spoils at Genoa.
Goals by Mattia Bani and Mateo Retegui either side of the interval had put the hosts in the driving seat but Napoli weren't going to take the loss and turned a poor first hour into a bright final 30 minutes.
Giacomo Raspadori injected renewed vigour when he almost ripped the net with a quarter of an hour remaining, then Matteo Politano hit the leveller with a superbly taken volley 10 minutes later.
If you can't win, at least don't lose, so they say.
The Azzurri will now turn their attentions to the Champions League bow and a trip to Braga in Portugal on Wednesday.
