Napoli are champions of Italy for the fourth time after beating Cagliari 2-0 at the Stadio Maradona!
A goal in each half by Scott McTominay and Romelu Lukaku secured the victory we needed to clinch the title on the final day of the season, two years on from our previous Scudetto triumph.
It was the last act of a season that began on 26 June 2024 when Aurelio De Laurentiis presented Antonio Conte at Palazzo Reale, with the new coach immediately embracing the motto Amma fatica’ (We have work to do).
The work paid off immediately. With the help of some shrewd summer signings, the Azzurri racked up eight wins and a draw in their first ten games and found themselves top by the end of October.
After a 1-1 draw at Inter in November and a couple of defeats, the team slipped to second but a seven-match winning run in December and January – including victories over Atalanta and Juventus – saw them reclaim top spot by the halfway stage of the campaign.
In the return match against title rivals Inter on 1 March, Conte's men battled back with a strong second-half display and grabbed a late equaliser.
The top two continued to vie for top spot until back-to-back wins over Monza and Torino around Easter enabled Napoli to leapfrog the Nerazzurri for the final time and finish a triumphant campaign having spent 23 matchdays top of the pile and with the best defence.
Shortly before 11 pm this evening, Friday 23 May 2025, the Stadio Maradona broke out into song to celebrate the Italian champions. A night of glory as Napoli claimed the Scudetto for the fourth time!
