“Whether I start a game or just play for a couple of minutes I’ll always give my all.” Giovanni Simeone spoke ahead of Napoli v Rangers in the UEFA Champions League.
“We need to show what we’re capable of in every game and keep up our good run. I’d be delighted to start the game but I’m ready for action whenever the coach decides to play me. I’ve got the requisite experience to understand what matters and everyone in the squad is playing an important role.
“I’ve always said that I prepare for games with a lot of energy and I also meditate to improve my focus. Players need to be ready for action, whether they start a game or play for just a few minutes. I’ll give my all for the team and the coach, as I have done since I joined the club.
“Rangers are really aggressive and physical. The first time we faced them in the group was one of our most challenging fixtures so far this season. We'll need to be really alert as to what they have to offer and adapt to however they approach the game.”
What’s your relationship with Luciano Spalletti like?
“We get on really well. He’s a coach who is always on hand to help and tries to get the best out of his squad. He gives me a lot of advice and feeds me with confidence every day. He’s got a knack of picking the right players for the right game. He’s a right taskmaster but he’s also capable of having a laugh and relaxing.”
How have your first few months in Naples been?
“There’s nothing quite like representing Napoli. The people’s passion for the club is something else. The atmosphere here is really special, I feel great every day in the city, and I’ve got so much passion for this club.”
