Luciano Spalletti reflected on the 1-0 loss to Lazio on Friday evening and the mood in the dressing room after the team’s first home defeat of the season in Serie A.
“I could see how disappointed the lads were in the dressing room, which means they gave everything without ever giving up.
“We didn’t show our usual quality. We should’ve shown more in order to create more danger for their defence. That did mostly happen in the second half, but in the first half our passing was a bit sloppy.
“We weren’t that patient. We forced the play out wide when we needed to push down the middle to allow the midfielders to get forward as that was the crucial way to put their rearguard to the test.
“I expected Lazio to play like that. I knew that’s how they would approach it. We needed to be more precise, but in terms of our mentality, the lads gave everything that they had.
“There’s no slowing down or presumptions by anyone. We’ll now continue where we left off in terms of working hard and looking ahead. I said we wouldn’t take our foot off the gas and that’s how it’ll be in every game ahead of us.”
